Made only before and during the Easter period, flaouna cheese is mainly used as the basic ingredient in making “flaounes”, a traditional Easter pastry unique to Cyprus. It has a creamy pale yellow colour and a cylindrical or small round shape. It can be used on its own or mixed with other cheeses such as halloumi, kefalotyri or anari for the filling of the flaounes (Easter cheese breads).
Every Easter we get down to work to provide you with the real taste of Hadjipieris’ Flaouna cheese made with our traditional recipe. We make two types of flaouna cheese to suit every taste. One is made with goat and sheep’s milk and the other with cow, goat and sheep’s milk.
